Gone to a specially gilded throne in the sky, naked civil servant Quentin Crisp lived a dramatic, brave and luscious life. Witty and very crisp, Quentin challenged society's attitudes towards homosexuality in a day when the word was hardly uttered. John Hurt portrayed the flamboyant, proud novelist in the film based on Crisp's extraordinary book "The Naked Civil Servant." We are proud that Quentin's lovely visage graced our "Great Face" campaign, which is included in our twenty-year anniversary poster. Look up Quentin on the web and learn more about this maverick who made lavender hair de riguer and pink neck scarves an essential wardrobe item. We are sorry that he has left us, and grateful for his gifts.
